Student teams put drones through their paces

ICYMI: A pretty neat story.

Students from Gilman as well as universities in North Carolina, Turkey, India, Israel and elsewhere came to the Navy base in St. Inigoes last week to fly unmanned aerial vehicles.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International hosted its 12th Annual Student Unmanned Air Systems Competition from June 18-22, an event designed to get young people interested in pursuing careers related to UAVs and related technology.

Here’s “Gilman UAV,” named the top high school team: Team captain Casey, ground systems control engineer Wolfgang, and safety officer Riley.
